How to use these repos

The GitHub organization is github.com/storytold. ArtCraft is not a single repository. The studio/engine lives in storytold/artcraft. Photocraft, Vectorcraft, Lightcraft, and the other crafts are sibling repos with their own Releases.

For a packaged installer, prefer getartcraft.com/apps. Use GitHub when you need a specific version, a checksum, source, or a craft that is not on the apps list yet.

Verify the owner is storytold before you clone or download. Forks and unofficial mirrors are unverified.

Releases versus the apps page

Release assets and the apps page usually track the same product line. They are not always published in the same hour. Match the version string and the SHA-256. If they disagree, wait or use the source you can checksum.

Most people should take a Release build or the apps-page installer. Clone the repo only if you intend to build with Rust (cargo) and already read that repo's README.

Building from source

Each repo documents its own build. A typical Photocraft path is clone, then cargo run --release as described in that README. Building from source is slower than an installer and needs a Rust toolchain. It is the right path for contributors, not the default path for "I just want the app."

Other public crafts

The organization also publishes related tools as they appear, including Wordcraft, Pdfcraft, Filmcraft, Designcraft, and others. This independent guide lists the four download-focused repos below. If a name is missing, open the organization page rather than trusting a random fork.

FAQ

Conclusion

The public source of truth is the GitHub organization. Use repository Releases for versioned builds and the official apps page for packaged installers. This independent guide only links out.
